What is your plan if you had to come back home early from your destination?
Travel protection provides you with benefits for unexpected, named situations-called covered reasons-that can arise before or during your trip.
The details on this page are from my preferred travel protection partner, Allianz Partners. They have wonderful trip cancellation, interruption and trip delay benefits and travel protection can be easily added to your vacation package quote.
As a travel specialist, I never feel comfortable with anyone traveling without travel protection or at least having a plan if you had to return from your trip early.
Read on to find out how travel protection can give you peace of mind before and during your travel.
With cancellation benefits, you can be reimbursed up to 100% of the nonrefundable trip costs, depending on the plan purchased, if you need to cancel your trip for a covered reason. This gives you more financial flexibility to rebook your trip at a later date.
While traveling, a number of issues can arise that might force you to cut your trip short or miss pre-paid activities.
With trip interruption benefits, you can be reimbursed your insured, non-refundable trip costs if your travel plans are interrupted for a covered reason.
A spectacular benefit of using Allianz Partners travel insurance is their travel delay benefits. Inclement weather and other issues frequently cause unexpected travel delays-which can bring additional, unplanned expenses like extra meals and accommodations. With travel delay benefits from Allianz Partners, you can be reimbursed for additional expenses resulting from a covered delay-or, you could receive an automatic, no receipts-required payment of $100 per insured traveler on a plan that includes Smart Benefits.
Travel protection does not cover reasonably foreseeable events-like storms that were already named at the time of purchase or the worsening condition of a family member who was already ill when the plan was purchased.
It also doesn't cover all unforeseeable events. Only reasons names as covered reasons within the plan documents are eligible for a claim-but there are some special circumstances to keep in mind like pre-existing conditions.
